With the advancement of medical technology, the cure rates for many cancers have improved, and the survival rate of cancer patients continues to increase. However, during the fight against cancer, patients suffer from various complications such as fatigue, sarcopenia, lymphedema, and tissue fibrosis caused by radiotherapy. The recovery process is arduous and exhausting, affecting both physical and mental health, and reducing functional capacity and quality of life. Therefore, cancer rehabilitation is crucial for patients after completing their cancer treatments.
September 8th is celebrated annually as World Physical Therapy Day. The Macau Physical Therapists Association (MPTA) uses this important occasion to promote the importance of cancer rehabilitation to Macau citizens, especially cancer patients, to increase their understanding of the process and enhance their functional capacity and quality of life. The goal is to let them know that physical therapists are with them on their recovery journey.
