Purpose
Provide an opportunity for students to create and evaluate their business plans, preparing them for future entrepreneurship.

- Macau residents studying at tertiary institutions overseas
Awards
The Macau regional competition, titled by Bank of China Macau Branch, offers the following awards. The top three winners will advance to the finals for a chance to win a RMB million-dollar prize and an opportunity for over 50 million in financing.
- 1st Place: MOP 50,000
- 2nd Place: MOP 30,000
- 3rd Place: MOP 10,000
- Merit Award (3 teams): MOP 5,000 each
- HKUST-UM Cross-University Team Award: MOP 5,000
- Best Exhibition Award: MOP 5,000
- Elevator Pitch Award: MOP 5,000
HKUST-UM Cross-University Team Award Details
- This award is designed to encourage students from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the University of Macau (UM) to form cross-university teams.
- It will be awarded to the highest-scoring cross-university team among the top 18 teams.
- A cross-university team must have at least one student from HKUST and one from UM, and these members must constitute half or more of the total registered team members.
- Such teams can only register in the Macau division.
- HKUST and/or UM may provide travel, accommodation arrangements, or subsidies for participating students, subject to prior agreement from both universities.
- Subsidy details:
- Generally, each team's cumulative travel between Hong Kong and Macau during the competition should not exceed 10 days.
- Before entering the top 18, each team is generally eligible for up to 2 subsidies (including mandatory team-forming activities).
- After entering the top 18, each team is generally eligible for up to 5 subsidies.
- The two universities can assist in team formation. Interested UM students are advised to draft a two-page executive summary along with a personal profile and relevant materials and email them to [email protected] by January 16, 2019. For easier coordination, themes such as FinTech or Smart City are suggested but not mandatory.
- Students forming cross-university teams through university coordination must attend the team-forming activity on January 18, 2019 (with January 25 as a backup date).
