Overview

The 2019 Australia-China Zhiyuan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is the second edition of this major startup contest. It aims to promote technological development, foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Macau, facilitate industry diversification and upgrading, and build a platform connecting entrepreneurs with investors. The competition seeks to discover innovative talent, select elite entrepreneurs, and help aspiring young entrepreneurs launch their ventures onto the global stage.

Following the success of the inaugural 2018 competition, which saw winning Macau teams advance to prestigious international contests like the 'Jing-Jin-Ji & Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition', the 'Fosun Protechting Global Entrepreneurship Competition', and the 'Alibaba God of War Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition', the 2019 edition continues to provide multi-faceted development opportunities for innovative teams.

Competition Structure

The competition is divided into two main stages:

Stage 1: Preliminary Round

• Application Period: February 18 – April 15, 2019
• Process: Projects are publicly solicited. Complete application materials must be submitted by April 15, 2019.
• Result Announcement: The 20 projects shortlisted for the finals will be announced on the official websites (www.myeic.com.mo or www.mapst.org) on May 15, 2019.

Stage 2: Final Round

• Date: June 18, 2019
• Venue: Macao Science Center Convention Center
• Format: An 8-minute project roadshow per team.
  • 3 minutes for presenting the Business Plan.
  • 5 minutes for Q&A with on-site judges or investment institutions.
• Presentation Language: Chinese or English

Awards and Prizes

Main Competition Prizes

• Champion: MOP 30,000 cash prize and a certificate.
• 1st Runner-up: MOP 20,000 cash prize and a certificate.
• 2nd Runner-up: MOP 10,000 cash prize and a certificate.

Five special awards are available, with up to two winners for each:

• University Student Group Award
• Torch Center Award
• IEEAC Award
• Fosun Protechting Award
• Alibaba God of War Award

Additional Opportunities

Winning teams, in addition to cash prizes, will be recommended to investors for business financing opportunities. Award recipients will also have the chance to be nominated by the organizers to represent Macau in major 2019 national and international competitions, including:
