About the Festival
The Present Future Film Festival is an annual event established in 2014 to promote Macau's video and animation creation and discover more young creators. It is a collaborative project between Macau, Taiwan, and Japan, designed to foster cross-cultural exchange and provide a platform for local talent.
Festival Highlights
- Objective: To promote Macau's video and animation works, discover young creators, and facilitate international exchange.
- Format: The festival collects local short films and animations from Macau. A panel of professional judges from the three regions selects outstanding works.
- Screenings: Selected Macau works are featured in special screenings in Taiwan and Japan. In return, outstanding films from Taiwan and Japan are screened alongside Macau works during the festival in Macau.
- International Reach: Selected entries are also directly recommended to various film festivals worldwide, offering creators broader international exposure.
2018 Edition & Open Call
This year marks the festival's fifth anniversary. The 2018 edition is expanding its reach.
- Open Call: The festival is now openly soliciting short video and animation works from Macau.
- Submission Criteria:
- Works created after July 1, 2016.
- Maximum length of 15 minutes.
- Open to Macau residents or students studying in Macau.
- Free to participate. Number of entries and themes are unlimited.
- Submission Deadline: August 10, 2018.
- How to Apply: Participants must complete the online registration form (https://goo.gl/forms/0IJEx7jh3WxPczSn1) and upload their film before the deadline.
- Macau Screening Dates: September 22-23, 2018 (scheduled).
- Expanded Venues: In Macau, screenings will not only be held in professional cinema rooms but will also extend to various community spaces like cafes to reach a wider audience.
