Event Overview
The 2018 MAC Student Annual Gathering is a large-scale knowledge and skills competition for students, themed around the Greater Bay Area. The event aims to connect local and overseas Macau students, providing a platform for mutual learning, communication, and cooperation to foster unity. Through a competition focused on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, students can better understand the opportunities and challenges brought by national development, discover their potential, and reflect on their roles.
Key Details
- Target Participants: Macau university and secondary school students, or Macau students studying abroad.
- Competition Date: August 18, 2018 (Saturday), starting at 2:00 PM.
- Competition Venue: Macao Science Center Conference Hall.
- Briefing Session Date: August 6, 2018 at 4:00 PM.
- Briefing Session Venue: Youth Convergence Centre [1/F-B, Block 2, Fit Industrial Building, 215 Rua de M. Lusi, Macau (near the power plant)].
- Registration Deadline: From now until August 3, 2018.
Competition Format
The competition is divided into two stages: Preliminary and Final.
Preliminary Round:
- Conducted as a Greater Bay Area quiz.
- Maximum of 12 teams.
- Teams are randomly divided into 3 rounds of 4 teams each.
- The top four teams with the highest total scores advance to the finals.
Final Round:
Consists of three parts:
- Greater Bay Area Quiz: Questions are based on a provided question bank. Includes mandatory and buzzer rounds.
- Speech Contest: Teams draw a topic, have a limited time to prepare, and deliver an impromptu speech.
- Team Challenge: Teams use provided materials to create a product or complete tasks according to set rules and indicators. Points are awarded based on completion speed.
Registration & Fees
- Team Size: 5-6 people per team.
- Registration Method: Download the form from www.aecm.org.mo. Complete the form and email it with copies of all team members' student IDs and ID cards to [email protected]. Email subject must be: "2018MAC學生年度盛會 + Team Name".
- Deposit: A refundable deposit of MOP 100 per team must be submitted before the deadline to the Macau Chinese Students Union (1/F A,B, Veng Weng Building, 9 Rua de A. Arriaga, Macau). The deposit will be refunded after the event.
Prizes
- Champion: Trophy + MOP 4,000 cash prize.
- 1st Runner-up: Trophy + MOP 3,000 cash prize.
- 2nd Runner-up: Trophy + MOP 2,000 cash prize.
- 3rd Runner-up: Trophy + MOP 1,000 cash prize.
- All Participants: Receive a certificate of participation.
