"2017 Unboxing Works" is a curated theatre festival presenting three distinct and innovative experimental plays, each exploring unique themes through different theatrical forms.

1. Physical Comedy: The Idiots

• Presented by: Clown Not Ugly Theatre Troupe
• Director/Playwright: Chan Lai Nei
• Cast: Tsang Wai Tik, Chikako Murase
• Synopsis: A bored, self-proclaimed "loser" sees a bizarre job ad seeking a man to spend three hours a day with a woman, doing anything she desires. Laughing it off as idiotic, he surprisingly decides to fly to Japan for the interview, leading to a series of hilarious and awkward encounters. This play embodies the "clown spirit"—using physical comedy and exaggerated characters to share vulnerability, failure, and quirkiness.

2. Multimedia Theatre: The Affairs of Spring Breeze and Butterflies

• Director/Playwright: Ng Keng In
• Video Installation & Design: Wong Ka Hei
• Cast: Leong Fan Kai, Leong Chin Hong, Lau Yee Lam
• Synopsis: Adapted from Taiwanese writer Chu Tien-Hsin's novel, this play explores the mysteries of homosexuality. The story follows Wai Shing, a heterosexual man who discovers his university roommate Yao Ming is in love with him. Years later, married to Ah Ching, he learns she was once a lesbian. The narrative deconstructs societal views on love, desire, and prejudice, enhanced by a groundbreaking hologram (Hologram) projection, creating a vivid and colorful stage experiment.

3. Immersive Theatre: Time‧Dance‧Sound

• Co-creators: Chan Sze Kei, Chan Chi Cheng, Kee Pak Hou
• Music Director: Kee Pak Hou
• Choreographer: Chan Chi Cheng
• Dancers: Chan Chi Cheng, Wong Pou Chu
• Synopsis: Welcome to the Museum of Old Objects, a space where time stands still. This immersive experience invites the audience to wander freely among sound installations and dance, listening to the stories carried by forgotten items. It's a meditation on time, memory, and what is left behind in a rapidly developing city. The performance lasts approximately 45 minutes with no intermission.
