After traveling solo across half the globe, what do you choose to accompany you on your journey and for reflection? Music, books, or singing along the way?
Sio Ng will share her experiences from her travels across half the Earth and, together with moderator Lei Lap Seng, discuss the role of music on the road.
Sio is a Macao-born, cross-regional multidisciplinary creative. She has traveled to over 40 countries across six continents, having lived in the UK, France, the USA, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, and Canada, and taught herself French and Spanish along the way. Between 2012 and 2014, in pursuit of maintaining a free spirit and embracing boundless horizons, she embarked on a solo journey of over 800 days across Europe, Africa, North and South America, working in creative and hospitality-related fields, experiencing diverse lifestyles, and exploring different cultures and mindsets. Her Facebook page "Boundless Horizons" has nearly 60,000 followers, and her inspiring articles have motivated people worldwide to broaden their perspectives. She shares not only the people and stories from her years of travel but also practical tips on itineraries, working while traveling, and self-learning foreign languages.
Sio holds a BA in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins, UK, and an MA in Video from Middlesex University. With over a decade of professional creative experience spanning film, television, writing, and marketing, she occasionally engages in design, events, and teaching. For ten consecutive years, she has coordinated numerous projects for the "Macau Creative Association," promoting them across Greater China and overseas. She has long been dedicated to fostering Macao's cultural and creative industries and has taught media and creative subjects at several higher education institutions, inspiring many young people to pursue creative careers. She also contributes articles and columns to various media outlets in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao and is frequently invited to collaborate with travel-related organizations. On November 28, 2016, she published her travel and motivational book, The Freedom of the Heart is Boundless Horizons.
