Purpose
This series of activities aims to teach elderly participants health knowledge through theoretical courses, enhancing their understanding of health education concepts and tasks. Through a service-learning program, it empowers seniors to utilize their leadership and planning skills in their later years, actively participate in community service, and share health knowledge with other seniors, achieving the goal of "aging with purpose and utility." Ultimately, it supports the call for building a healthy city in the Macao SAR.
The 2017 Elderly Health Ambassador Program focuses on health and wellness, promoting health education in local senior centers and residential homes.

- Target Participants: Seniors aged 45 and above
- Quota: 80 participants (first-come, first-served)
- Recruitment Period: From now until March 9, 2017
- Fee: Registration and tuition are completely free
Activity Content & Format
Health Ambassador Training Course
Participants who achieve over 80% attendance, pass theoretical and practical tests, and complete the service-learning program will receive a certificate.
Service-Learning Program
Graduates of the course will form groups to conduct service-learning programs at local day care centers or nursing homes. Activities include promoting health information, interactive Q&A sessions, health checks, lectures, or senior interest performances. The association will provide support from relevant doctors or staff.
Based on the effectiveness of the service activities, the top three groups will be selected and awarded champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up prizes, including certificates and cash prizes (or equivalent value gifts) of MOP 3,000, MOP 2,000, and MOP 1,000 respectively.
Course Details
- Location: Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau
- Schedule: March 15 to May 31, 2015, every Sunday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
- Instructors: Professional instructors from the association, including specialist doctors, nutritionists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, nursing teachers, nurses, and other experienced professionals.
- Curriculum: Covers psychological and physiological characteristics of the elderly, prevention of seasonal influenza, common eye diseases in the elderly, dementia, stroke, the "three highs" in the elderly, coronary heart disease, digestive system diseases (constipation, hemorrhoids), urinary system diseases (urinary incontinence), traditional Chinese medicine treatments for bone conditions (arthritis, gout), diabetes and low-sugar diets, and understanding cancer.
