Overview

To summarize the annual achievements in literary creation and preserve Macao's literary heritage, the Macao Foundation and the Cultural Affairs Bureau have jointly published the 'Annual Macao Literary Works Anthology' for the past six years, garnering widespread attention from literary authors. To further promote the development of Macao literature, the '2016 Macao Literary Works Anthology' is now planned for publication, and an open call is launched for submissions of Macao novels, essays, new poetry, and classical poetry published in 2016. Interested local authors are welcome to submit their works from now until February 10, 2017.

Submission Guidelines & Criteria

• Eligibility Period: Works must have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2016.
• Author Eligibility: Authors must be Macao residents (holders of permanent or non-permanent resident ID cards).
• Language & Format: Submissions must be original Chinese works in the categories of fiction, essays, new poetry, or classical poetry.
• Publication Requirement: Works must have been published in local or overseas newspapers or periodicals. Manuscripts that are unpublished, published online only, already compiled into published collections, or are award-winning works from any public competition will not be accepted.
• Submission Limits: There is no word limit. Each author may submit a maximum of three works per category. Submitted works must be the version as originally published.

How to Submit

• Download Forms: Submission forms and declaration sheets can be downloaded from the Macao Foundation website (www.fmac.org.mo) or the Cultural Affairs Bureau website (www.icm.gov.mo).
• Collect Forms in Person: Forms are also available for collection at:

  • Macao Pen Club (Unit C, 11th Floor, Macao Daily News Building, No. 218A, Avenida de Venceslau de Morais)
• Submission Deadline: All submissions must be received by February 10, 2017.
• Submission Methods:
  • By Mail/In-Person: Send or deliver the completed submission form, declaration sheet, a copy of the original published work, and an electronic file (Word format) of the work to the Macao Pen Club.
  • By Email: Email the required documents to [email protected].
