"When did we start doubting our infinite possibilities?"
"...Probably when we thought we were no longer young."
The story of Heavy Metal Girls follows four colleagues and old friends—Joo-young, Eun-joo, Jung-min, and Bit-jin—who have worked together for 16 years in the R&D department of a small-to-medium-sized food company. These four ordinary, hard-working, middle-aged professional women are innocently about to become victims of the company's massive budget and personnel cuts! To please their new supervisor—a die-hard heavy metal fan—they bravely accept vocational retraining and form their own heavy metal band, making a final desperate attempt to save their jobs!
Heavy Metal Girls is a recent work by renowned South Korean playwright and director Choi Won-jong and has been performed multiple times in Korea.
The story is humorous and touching, with themes drawn from life yet elevated beyond it. It encourages the audience to examine the survival state of ordinary people within a larger environment and rediscover the "infinite possibilities" in life. We hope to present the public and theatre enthusiasts with an outstanding theatrical work that is unique and full of dramatic and musical elements.
