Overview
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao (ICM) has launched the 2016 Feature Film Production Support Scheme, inviting local film creators and producers to submit applications. The scheme aims to foster the development of the Macao film industry and support the production of local feature-length films.
Objectives
The scheme is designed to:
- Promote the sustainable development of Macao's film industry.
- Cultivate local filmmaking talent.
- Enhance the professional production capabilities of the local film sector.
- Encourage filmmakers to undertake feature-length film projects.
- Stimulate the creation of more innovative local cinematic works.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Macao Resident Identity Card.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have previously directed or produced either one feature film of at least 80 minutes in length or two short films (narrative) of over 20 minutes each.
- The submitted work(s) must have been publicly screened.
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted in two stages:
Preliminary Selection
A jury will evaluate applications based on five criteria:
- Content and creativity of the script.
- Execution capability of the applicant and their team.
- Feasibility of the film production plan.
- Thoroughness of the overall planning.
- Reasonableness of the overall budget plan.
A maximum of ten applicants will be shortlisted to proceed to the final selection.
Final Selection
The jury will assess finalists based on three criteria:
- Execution capability of the applicant and their team.
- Completeness of the script.
- Feasibility of the film promotion and marketing plan.
The process will include an interview with the applicant and their team members and a review of the applicant's presentation.
Support Details
- A maximum of four projects will be selected.
- Each selected project will receive a grant equivalent to 70% of the estimated total project cost.
- The maximum grant amount is MOP 1,500,000 per project.
- The grant is to be used for the production, promotion, and marketing of the feature film.
