Overview
To encourage all sectors of society to care about Macao, research Macao's economic issues, and cultivate local research talent, the Macao Economic Association, with the co-organization and sponsorship of the Macao Foundation, is hosting the "2013 Macao Economic Essay Competition". This event aims to foster in-depth research and discussion on topics related to Macao's economic development.

Essay Themes
- Research on Macao's economic policies (including human resources, housing, etc.)
- Prospects for Macao's industrial development and moderate economic diversification
- Research on regional economic cooperation (including Guangdong-Macao cooperation)
- Research on building Macao into a "World Centre of Tourism and Leisure"
- Research on the strategic functions of Macao's trade and commerce service platform
- Research on the impact of Hengqin's development on Macao's economic prospects
- Research on how the completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will promote Macao's tourism industry
- Other thematic research related to Macao's economy
Eligibility
- Participants must be Macao residents aged 18 or above.
- Student Category: Macao students enrolled in higher education institutions.
- Open Category: Members of the public from all sectors.
Essay Requirements
- Format: Academic essay.
- Specifications: Title of your choice, written in Chinese, and formatted according to academic standards.
- Word Count (excluding abstract, keywords, references):
- Student Category: 3,000–5,000 words.
- Open Category: Within 10,000 words.
- Abstract: Within 300 words.
- Keywords: Within 5 phrases.
- References: Must be listed at the end of the article.
How to Participate
- Submission Limit: A maximum of two essays per person.
- Identification: Participants must complete the attached application form. Personal information must NOT be written on the essay itself.
- Submission Method: Essays and application forms should be submitted directly or emailed to the Association.
- Deadline: October 25, 2013

Student Category
- First Prize (1 winner): MOP 5,000 cash and a certificate.
- Second Prize (2 winners): MOP 3,000 cash and a certificate.
- Third Prize (3 winners): MOP 2,000 cash and a certificate.
- Merit Awards (multiple winners): Certificate.
Open Category
- First Prize (1 winner): MOP 10,000 cash and a certificate.
- Second Prize (2 winners): MOP 5,000 cash and a certificate.
- Third Prize (3 winners): MOP 3,000 cash and a certificate.
- Merit Awards (multiple winners): Certificate.
Judging & Results
- The Association will invite professionals to serve as judges.
- Results will be published in major local Chinese newspapers and on the Association's website before the end of the year. Winners will be notified individually.
- The award ceremony date will be announced separately.
