Overview
To promote the development of Macao's film industry, actively nurture local filmmaking talent, and enhance local professional film production capabilities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has established the "2013 Feature Film Production Support Scheme". Selected applicants can receive up to MOP 1.5 million in production cost subsidies and professional advice from senior film practitioners. The Bureau aims to encourage filmmakers to engage in feature film production and foster more creative local film works through this support scheme.
Application Period
- Application Dates: September 2 – October 16, 2013
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must hold a Macao Resident Identity Card.
- Must have previously directed or produced either:
- One feature film with a runtime of no less than 80 minutes, OR
- Two short films (narrative) each with a runtime of over 20 minutes.
Selection Process
The review process consists of two stages:
- Preliminary Review: The review panel will conduct a written assessment of the application proposals based on criteria including the script outline's content, creativity, local characteristics, feasibility of the production plan, and reasonableness of the budget. A maximum of ten proposals will be selected to proceed to the next stage.
- Final Review: The review panel will evaluate the proposals based on overall completeness, feasibility of the promotion plan, completeness of the script, and reasonableness of budget allocation. Shortlisted applicants and their team members will be invited for an interview.
Support Details
- The review panel will select a maximum of four successful applicants.
- The support grant will cover up to 70% of the estimated cost of the proposed project, to be used for the film's production and promotion.
- The maximum grant amount is MOP 1,500,000.
