About the Challenge
Design for Change (DFC) is a global movement empowering children and youth in over 70 countries to make the world a better place. Participants follow the DFC four-step process—Feel, Imagine, Do, and Share—to identify a problem, design an innovative solution, implement it, and share their story. This challenge invites young people in Macao to submit their projects and be part of this international change-making community.
Eligibility
Participants must meet both of the following criteria:
- Aged 6 to 17 on or before April 30, 2025.
- Hold a Macao Resident Identity Card or a Macao Student Card.
Participation Format
- Participate as an individual or in a team of up to 5 members.
- Each team must have 1 to 2 adult mentors to guide and coordinate.
Project Requirements
- Project Period: The project must be conducted between May 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025.
- Language: Projects can be submitted in either Chinese or English.
- Content: The submission must include a project title, team name, and a clear record of the DFC four-step process:
- Feel: Discover a problem and select the most pressing issue as the challenge theme.
- Imagine: Brainstorm unique solutions and choose the final plan to implement.
- Do: Gather resources to execute the plan and create tangible change.
- Share: Share the action with others to inspire more support and participation.
- Media: Use photos or videos to document the process, accompanied by written or oral explanations.
- Format: Submit as a video (3–5 minutes, MP4), presentation (PPT/PPTX), or report (DOC/DOCX/PDF).
Awards & Recognition
- Seven Featured Stories: Seven outstanding projects will be selected based on judging criteria. Winners receive a medal, certificate, a special experience, and the chance to present at the "14th DFC Creative Sharing Conference."
- Outstanding Mentor Award: Mentors of the winning teams receive a certificate and a prize.
Participation Certificate & International Exchange
- All participants who complete the four steps and submit their work will receive an internationally recognized participation certificate upon verification.
- Selected teams will have the opportunity to represent Macao at the annual "Be the Change Conference" for international exchange and sharing with DFC participants worldwide.
