The Macau A-Ma Cultural & Tourism Festival is an annual large-scale religious celebration. The A-Ma Customs and Beliefs of Macau were inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2009.
Event Schedule
- Opening Ceremony & A-Ma Ritual: October 13 (Double Ninth Festival), 10:00–12:00 at Tin Hau Temple, A-Ma Cultural Village, Coloane.
- Parade: 15:00–17:00. The A-Ma palanquin will be carried from the Tin Hau Temple to Fai Chi Kei (Northern Bay Recreational Area) and proceed to Iao Hon Market Park.
- Evening Performance: 20:30–22:30. Special performance by the Hunan Provincial Art Troupe.
- Statue Visit: Visitors can also see the world's tallest white jade A-Ma statue (19.99m high, weighing over 1,000 tons) at the A-Ma Cultural Village.
