Call for Entries
The 10th Tottori Manga Kingdom International Manga Competition is now open for submissions. This international contest invites creators from around the world to submit original manga on the theme of "Sound".
Competition Details
1. Entry Categories
Entries are divided into three categories, all based on the theme "Sound":
- Single-Panel Manga Category (1 page)
- 4-Panel Manga Category (1–8 pages)
- Story Manga Category (4–24 pages)
Note: Participants may enter multiple categories, submit multiple entries, and collaborate on works.
2. Eligibility
- Open to all, regardless of professional or amateur status.
- Open to all nationalities and ages.
3. Submission Period
- Entry Period: April 20, 2021 – August 31, 2021 (Entries must be received by August 31).
4. Submission Guidelines
General Requirements:
- Paper Size: B4 (257mm × 364mm).
- Dialogue & Titles: Can be in Japanese or the creator's native language.
- Color: Black & white, color, or mixed media are acceptable.
- Page Numbers: Must be marked at the bottom of each page.
For Hand-Drawn Submissions:
- No double-sided drawings.
- Dialogue and titles must be clearly legible.
For Digital Submissions:
- File Format: JPG or PNG only.
- Resolution: Black & white: 600dpi or higher. Color: 350dpi or higher.
5. How to Submit
Option A: Physical Submission
- Submit a copy of the original-sized manuscript.
- For digital files, submit on a CD-R or DVD-R.
- Each entry must include a completed entry form.
- Entries will not be returned.

Option B: Online Submission
- Step 1: Send an email to the dedicated entry email ([email protected]) with the subject "Manga Contest Application" and include the following details in the body: entry category, work title, nationality, name, address, contact information, date of birth, gender, occupation (or school name/grade), and pen name.
- A reply with a link and password to the dedicated submission server will be sent within one week.
- Step 2: Use the provided link and password to upload your work to the competition server.
- File Specifications:
- Work file: JPG/PNG format (under 5MB).
- Entry form file: DOC/PDF format (under 5MB).
- Combine both files into a single ZIP archive for upload.
- Maximum upload size: 100MB.
6. Prizes
Awards will be judged across all categories by the "Manga Kingdom Tottori International Manga Competition Judging Committee":
- Grand Prize (1 work): Certificate and 500,000 JPY.
- Excellence Prize (2 works): Certificate and 100,000 JPY.
- Judges' Special Prize (3 works): Certificate and 50,000 JPY.
- U-15 Prize (3 works): Certificate and commemorative gift (approx. value 30,000 JPY). *For participants aged 15 and under.
7. Timeline
- Finalist Announcement: Around December 2021.
- Award Ceremony: February 2022 in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. Winners will be invited by Tottori Prefecture to attend.
8. Organizer
- Organizer: Tottori Prefectural Government.
9. Important Notes
- Entries must be original, unpublished works (works published in doujinshi are acceptable).
- Works must not infringe upon third-party copyrights, portrait rights, etc.
- The copyright of submitted works remains with the creator, but the organizer reserves the right to use entries for promotional purposes, exhibitions, and online publication without compensation.
- Personal data collected will be used solely for purposes related to this competition.
