Workshop Overview
Stella & Artists (co-organized by the Macao Ballet Arts Association) presents its final ballet workshop of 2019, featuring the renowned Hong Kong dancer and choreographer Yuri Ng. This special Winter Ballet Master Workshop offers a rare opportunity for participants to receive personal coaching on ballet variations from Master Yuri Ng.
About the Instructor: Yuri Ng
Yuri Ng is a celebrated figure in the dance world. Born in Hong Kong, he began classical ballet training with Ms. Jean Wong. His distinguished career includes:
- Training at the National Ballet School in Canada and the Royal Ballet School in England (via the Heinz Bosl Scholarship).
- Receiving the Adeline Genée Gold Medal from the Royal Academy of Dancing in 1983.
- Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada.
- Prolific choreographer for major companies worldwide, including Hong Kong Ballet, City Contemporary Dance Company, and Singapore Dance Theatre.
- Recipient of numerous awards: Hong Kong Artists' Guild "Artist of the Year – Choreographer" (1997), Prix d'Auteur at the Bagnolet International Choreographic Competition (1998), Hong Kong Dance Awards (1999, 2004, 2006, 2008), and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council Artist of the Year Award (Dance) in 2013.
Workshop Details
Date: 15 December 2019 (Sunday)
It is highly recommended to join both sessions.
Session 1: Ballet Training Class
- Content: Ballet technique and training.
- Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Session 2: Variation Class*
- Content: In-depth coaching on a selected ballet variation.
- Time: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
*For the Variation Class, participants must select a specific ballet variation (or a segment) they wish to learn or improve. The variation will be coached by the instructor. This session is also open for observers and seat-in participants.
