Course Introduction
In the past, those who couldn't afford real flowers would commission artists to paint them. Today, knowing how to draw is a valuable skill. As the foundation of all painting, learning sketching means you'll never have to say "I can't draw" again!
This course is taught by the renowned local artist, Mr. Cai Guo Jie. Yes! The very same Cai Guo Jie who recently completed a ten-meter-long masterpiece for the University of Macau and sold 70% of his works at a solo exhibition in Beijing's competitive art market.
This course is suitable for complete beginners or those looking to solidify their drawing foundation. Sketching is the mother of painting. This course aims to build a complete foundational system for students, covering:
- Introduction and use of sketching materials
- Shading techniques
- Principles of creating three-dimensional form
- Expression of texture
- Creation of light and shadow effects
- Composition construction
Students will learn to understand the relationships within a drawing: size, grouping, foreground/background, presence/absence, depth, intensity, and light/dark. Through the instructor's demonstrations and detailed explanations, students will gain a clear and easy understanding of the key points of sketching and the use of tools and materials.
Course Details
- Class Size: 16 students
- Dates: March 20 to April 24, 2018 (Every Monday and Tuesday, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM) April 2 is a holiday
- Total Hours: 30 hours (10 sessions)
- Language of Instruction: Mandarin
- Fee: MOP 2,500
- Certificate & Subsidy: A certificate and a 50% tuition fee refund will be granted for attendance of 70% or higher.
- Note: This course is NOT part of the Continuing Education Development Plan (DSEDJ). Non-Macau residents must pay the full fee and are not eligible for the subsidy.

Individuals aged 15 and above who are interested in painting and creative arts.
Course Outline
- Sessions 1 & 2: Introduction and practice of individual flowers
- Sessions 3 & 4: Creating clusters of flowers
- Sessions 5 & 6: Capturing the soft, graceful direction of flowers
- Sessions 7 & 8: The luminous effect of transparency
- Sessions 9 & 10: Spatiality of multi-dimensional flower clusters
Important Notes
- Full tuition fee of MOP 2,500 must be paid in cash upon registration. MOP 1,250 will be refunded upon course completion if attendance reaches 70%.
- The final course schedule and dates are subject to the official website.
- This course is not part of the Continuing Education Development Plan (DSEDJ).
