Volunteer? Social Worker? What's the Difference?

Do you know yourself? Do you know how to interact with people? What role do you play in a team?

Background

This association has consistently organized volunteer service courses to cultivate youths' caring spirit, teamwork, and helping skills. Over the years, we have trained over a hundred elite young volunteers, injecting strength into Macau's volunteer services.

The 2014 Volunteer Service Worker Training will take "Community Experience" as its theme, divided into Basic and Advanced Levels. It aims to train a group of young volunteers who understand Macau's social service situation and are familiar with community activities and teamwork skills, promoting the development of professional and effective voluntary work.

The Advanced Level will run from August to October, covering introductions to Macau's social welfare and services, visits to social service facilities, outreach, and practical activities.

Objectives

To attract youths from diverse backgrounds to understand Macau's volunteer and social services from basic to advanced levels. The course aims to train youths with teamwork spirit and community service skills, encouraging them to proactively care for society and the underprivileged, and to use their own abilities to give back to society.

Through this training course, participants are expected to gain:

• Knowledge of the development and current state of Macau's social services, including child and youth services, elderly and mental rehabilitation services, gambling and drug addiction services, etc.
• Teamwork spirit and team-working skills.
• Self-awareness and interpersonal skills.
