BIRDIE STEM LAB

A special Christmas holiday STEM activity series designed for kids from K2 to Primary 6 (P6). The program features different themed camps tailored to specific age groups, combining storytelling, hands-on experiments, robotics, and programming to foster creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Program Structure

For K2-K3 Kids

• Camp 1: Frosty Snowball
  • A Christmas-themed camp for young children.
• Camp 2: STEAM Fairytale - Jack and the Beanstalk
  • Uses the classic fairy tale to guide children through a series of STEM-related tasks and activities.
  • Activities include plant exploration, testing if clouds can hold weight, building a sturdy beanstalk, and more.

For P1-P3 Kids

• Camp 1: Life in the Arctic
  • Explores how polar bears adapt to their environment, leading to hands-on experiments about insulation and material engineering.
  • Additional activities include ice art, fortress-building challenges, making glowing bubble lamps, and programming Dash and Dot robots to create a Christmas theater.
• Camp 2: Lego Wedo 2.0 - Christmas Sleigh
  • Combines Lego building with basic programming to create festive Christmas scenes.
  • Kids learn about gear mechanics and use code to control motors, lights, and sounds.

For P4-P6 Kids

• Camp 1: Christmas Sherlock - Who Killed the Reindeer?
  • A detective-themed camp where kids become investigators to solve a mystery.
  • Involves crime scene analysis, evidence collection, testing, and logical deduction.
• Camp 2: Micro:bit - Tricky Car Challenge
  • Uses the BBC Micro:bit microcontroller and expansion boards to build and program a modular car.
  • Kids modify the car into different functional vehicles (e.g., transporter, cannon) and engage in a creative final challenge.
